A rare essential oil, known in India and Sri Lanka as the oil of tranquillity. It has been used in Indian households for centuries, where the fibres of the grass are woven into aromatic mats that are used to sleep on.
It has also been used in Russia, many sewing it into the lining of their coats to help keep them warm as it helps to release excess heat.
It has a fabulous effect on the mind and body and is excellent when used to help calm anger and hysteria. What’s more it is said to reduce neurotic behaviour, stress and tension as well as balancing the hormonal system.
Another great use for it is on mature, slack, wrinkled, dry or irritated skin, and reduces any scars and stretch marks. It also makes a good insect repellent.
